Vegan Omelette/Pancake
Recipe for Vegan Omelette/Pancake
Classic Chila
Ingredients
1 cup besan / gram flour
3 tbsp. rice flour (optional)
¼ tsp. turmeric / haldi
¼ tsp. carom seeds / ajwain
Salt to taste
½ onion, finely chopped
2 tbsp. coriander leaves, finely chopped
½ tomato, finely chopped
1 inch ginger, finely chopped
1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
1/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 cup water
Method
- Combine the gram & rice flour with water, salt, turmeric, carom seeds and baking soda until smooth like pancake batter
- Add onions, coriander leaves, tomatoes, ginger and fresh chili. Fold ingredients
- Split batter in half and add spinach puree to 1 one of the portions.
- In a hot pan, lightly oiled, add 1 ladel full of the batter and swiftly spread in a circular motion similar to making an omelet
- Once it has set and golden and lightly crisp. Flip to cook the other side for a couple of minute
Spinach Vegan Omelet
Ingredients

scallion, finely chopped
2 tbsp. coriander leaves, finely chopped
1 inch ginger, finely chopped
1 green chili, finely chopped
5 tsp. oil, for roasting
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/4 tsp. baking soda
½ cup of water
Method
- Combine the gram & rice flour with water, salt, turmeric, carom seeds, salt and baking soda until smooth like pancake batter
- Add scallions, coriander leaves, tomatoes, ginger and fresh chili. Fold ingredients
